Jonisk Majolica 3

White glazed Italian maiolica
Clay extruder

L 12-14 cm

Based on that Scoppola has named many of his fish sculptures through a play with the Swedish language (with some paraphrasing of the Swedish vowels å, ä and ö) combined with characteristics in the different sculpture bodies such as shape, color settings, expressions, or elements from the creating process, ‘Jonisk Majolica 3’ has received its name based partly on that the sculptures are made of Italian maiolica clay, partly from the sculptures shape and that they make out number 3 in a sculpture series of three:

“Jonisk maiolica comes from the childish idea that in the ionic sea the fish have ionic shapes, like in ionic classical order with spirals.”
