Toby Maudsley
Biography
Toby Maudsley has been a commercial advertising photographer for many years, holding a Masters Degree from UAL, the University of the Arts in London.
Maudsley has won numerous national and international awards and his work has been showed in several exhibitions, including the National Portrait Gallery in London and Paris photo.
As an artist, Maudsley is working in the area of Postcolonialism, with particular focus within the boundaries of the former British colonial East. Maudsley works with archival reconstruction and installation and more recently has started to include his own photography.
In 2017 Maudsley was asked to go to Nepal and document some of Föreningen för Gatubarn i Nepal’s work, as well as the areas in which the work is carried out and where the sponsored people originate from.
Through Maudsley’s empathetic documentation a rich and vibrant photo archive was created of the landscape, people and villages of som of Nepals most remote and inaccessible regions, and from this a vision of an exhibition, where photographs could be sold to give even more back to the Nepali people, was born.
Lindberg-on-Sea Art Gallery presents, together with Toby Maudsley and Föreningen för Gatubarn i Nepal, the exhibition Resa i väglöst land - Photographs of North Western and North Central Nepal as a pro bono project where all revenues goes to the children of Nepal.
